“Tennis Master”

Snapchat Lens to Empower & Motivate
Future Tennis Masters

Application Used

Lens Studio, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Procreate

Project Overview

This project stems from a desire to create a Snap Lens that bridges the gap between sports enjoyment and beginners' challenges. Noticing a lack of beginner-friendly content in sports-related Lenses, this concept uses AR to create an encouraging experience for those starting their athletic journeys.

The Lens guides users from beginner to champion, inspiring them to persist—because with dedication, they might just become masters!

Project Brief: Sports that Bring Us Together

We all know sports aren't just about games—they're culture-shaping, mind-bending, and game-changing experiences. They're about the vibes, the connections, and the energy they bring. Imagine being able to bring the spirit of your favorite sport right into your Snapchat conversations. We're not just talking about cheering for your team here. We're talking about using AR to showcase how sports drive innovation, inspire progress, and make a positive impact on society. Showcase how you capture the magic of sports and how they bring people closer with the power of Snap Lens, not just in the stadium but in our everyday lives.

Who’s this Lens for?

Whether you've just dusted off a childhood racket or are completely new to the game, this Lens offers a fun and motivating way to learn the basics.

As someone who spent more time immersed in books and designs than playing sports, I understand the beginner's perspective.

This Lens replaces conventional tutorials with an engaging AR experience that keeps you coming back. As you spin the Lens and receive motivational quotes, you'll build the confidence to develop your serve and take your first steps toward tennis mastery.

Goals

After seeing many sports-focused Lenses, I noticed a gap for beginners like myself. Starting a new sport can be intimidating, which inspired me to design this Lens! It's a reminder that everyone—even the pros—started somewhere. I wanted to help users overcome their initial hesitation and celebrate their journey from beginner to champion through Snapchat. Creating this motivational tool has been incredibly rewarding, and I hope it inspires others to try new sports.

My goal was to spark motivation and create an "I can do this!" mindset through this Lens. I wanted users to see their initial struggles as natural stepping stones, not barriers.

Whether they picture themselves on a tennis court or soccer field, I hope this Lens encourages them to embrace new challenges. Above all, I want users to feel supported as they transform from beginners into passionate athletes!

Moodboard Creation

My moodboard captured the essence of "Tennis Master," an AR experience designed to be a fun and motivating learning tool for aspiring tennis players.

Content Gathering: Designing with YOU in Mind

Development began with thorough research of existing Lenses, providing valuable inspiration and a foundation to build upon. Throughout the process, creating a smooth user experience remained the core focus, with careful attention to what users would see and feel at each interaction point.

Final Work

Join the journey from beginner to tennis champion!

First, watch tennis balls and water bottles rain down, symbolizing the initial challenges of learning.

Then, spin the wheel to receive a shower of motivational messages and hearts, reinforcing that everyone starts somewhere and progress is worth celebrating.

Reflection

Connecting with the Lens Creator community was the highlight of this challenge. While tutorials provided excellent guidance, the support network proved invaluable. Meeting Christian, a Snap Lens Academy Alumni, transformed my approach. His insights on "thinking like a Lens Creator" opened new AR possibilities and inspired me to continue learning Lens Studio beyond this project.

The veterans' advice to simplify was crucial! While many features seemed daunting at first, overthinking was the real challenge. Taking a step back and starting with basics made a huge difference. I also learned to embrace Plan B when needed—finding creative alternatives kept the process enjoyable rather than stressful.

What’s the Next Steps?

Future development holds exciting possibilities. We could expand the Lens to showcase more sports, add interactive challenges and mini-games, and introduce personalization options like sport selection and difficulty levels. Refining animations would create an even smoother, more engaging experience.

These improvements represent just a few possibilities, with implementation depending on current features and our vision for the Lens's future!
